Marloes, thank you for sharing this! This is such a great reminder of how to reconnect with ourselves and our purpose in a very doable way. I find it challenging to stay focused in the world we live in at the moment. I've personally found that surrounding myself with visual images of my inspiration, goals, and values is crucial. It is my daily reminder to stay on track and maintain perspective! :D I will definitely add some of the 'life crafting' ideas to my wall! Thank you <3

Hi Marloes! Lovely to see you seizing life. By the balls and taking some control back. This all sounds great, I hope it’s helpful.

When I was making the decision to leave work back in 2018/9 I did a lot of soul searching like this, and read lots of books with lots of exercise in like the ones you suggest, and they were all super helpful. I think I have been left with a very clear sense of purpose, and as you say, that is a really helpful motivator. The metaphor I like to use is of a wind-up toy. I have to know which direction I want my wind up toy to set off in. It will invariably wobble off course, and be a I know where I want to go, I can keep picking it up and pointing it in the right direction again.

Good luck with this new goal, both for picture books and finding some space. Xxx

I'm happy you're affirming my thoughts. I think that if I don't set a clear goals/purpose, I might just continue bobbing along on the water :D

I love your metaphor of the wind-up toy!

I enjoyed your story there on “Life Crafting”. I am working on a little book about “Life Mapping”. If we do not know where we are going then why does it matter? We all need a life map and a compass. If we are not on a life map knowing our destination then it does not matter which way we are going. One of my favorite quotes is by Lucius Annaeus “ If a man does not know to what port he is steering, no wind is favorable to him”.

As someone who has experienced burnout in life, I can vouch for the fact that identifying your goals and prioritising then is extremely crucial.

The reason why I slipped into burnout was because I entered into a busy season of life but was not willing to let go of some priorities that could have been avoided. I wanted to do everything, even though some things demanded more time than before.

Another thing is to be okay with the idea of rest. Something I have realised recently- Even though I am busy, it does not mean that I cannot have moments of peace. You have to remind yourself to be okay with the idea that self care and ambition can go hand in hand with each other.

‘Life crafting’ seems like a sustainable way to build an intentional life. Thank you for sharing this!!✨

For me it was similar, trying to juggle ALL the balls. And I also needed to learn I am allowed to rest. Thanks for sharing this, it's always nice to know we're not alone :)

Thanks for sharing this Marloes! I’m also in the midst of a burnout, and re-evaluating everything I do, especially professionally. This is very helpful, I’m going to see where the steps will take me!
